Une randonnée au coeur des montagnes à ne pas manquer lors de votre passage au Morraine Lake. Des bâtons de marche sont recommandés pour la dernière partie du hike en switchback, le sentier devient très étroit et peut donner le vertige.

12 Km de randonnée qui nous a fait découvrir le lac Moraine. La vue du lac , du glacier et des montagnes est sublime.

Sentinel Pass via Larch Valley is one of the best hikes you can do in Moraine Lake. The steep challenge was the best part of the day. We became part of the view from the top of the mountains.

We timed our visit just right to coincide with the beginning of larch season and it was mesmerising. While a long and steep trek up the first half of the hike yields fairly little in the way of views, once you pass the little junction at the halfway point the walk transforms into something utterly magical and doesn’t stop producing wonders until you reach the end at Minnetsima lake. The walk back is similarly lovely as you can take in all the golden larches (in the correct season) framing the ten peaks and the massive overhanging glacier.

I’d only avoid the hike if you have people with serious physical issues as it is rather steep and can be long. We also managed to complete larch valley (up to but not including the hike up to Sentinel Pass) it in about 3.5 hours inclusive of lengthy stops for photographs and lingering at the top.

If you can manage to get yourself a bus ticket here then sentinel pass is a must. The hike from Moraine Lake to about the 1/2 way point is pretty lame but once you pass the dense tree line it is an absolute marvel. I felt like I passed through a teleporter 4 times before I reached the top of this hike with all the different types of scenery. Truly a special place
