Would go back for the halohalo and the ube cake was pretty good. The frosting wasn't too much. We actually liked the cream of the cake!
Maybe we went later in the night but the round ube cheese bread was dry and stale on the bottom...
The cake with flan was ok.
Server was nice.
🙂
I'd give the other balls another try next time I go.

What's Tagalog for "yes"?

Oo. Amazing. Oo.

Well, Kape't Torta is all the oos. It's eternal oos. It's a gauntlet of Infinity Oos worn by Phanos, the Filipino Thanos. If you've never been here, come here yesterday. Buy everything. Taste better gluten than any snooty French baker could ever comprehend.

The regular Ube Cake is an exercise in moist, purple deliciousness. Ube itself doesn't really have a flavor--it's mainly used for its great color--but you won't notice because it's got a great, mildly sweet flavor that suits every palate. The Mango Cake, on the other hand, is a similarly made flavor bomb of tropical vitamin A that will make you realize you've never had good mango cake until now.

And for something less sugary, try the pillow soft pandesal--proof that God exists and wants us to eat carbs.

I'd truly come back here every day if I lived anywhere remotely nearby. Who lives in Elmhurst and wants to be my best friend?

So in-love with their ube cake! Must if you really want to get a good ube cake!

Location: It is located along Queens Boulevard. The store was typical bakery, few seatings inside. Good display of breads, cakes and items from the Philippines.

Service: not much interaction cause I just bought cake and go.

Food: UBE CAKE: omg it is so good! The cake itself is moist even few days after I purchase! The frosting is like cream type, its a bit a lot but it taste good because it taste ube as well. Unlike other ube cakes that the cream does not taste ube! I almost eat half of the cake because it is so good!

Price rating: 7/10, $45 for a round cake. Thats the usual price now for more stores!

Definitely will come back here I will try their other flavors! But get the ube cake!!

My goodness this place smells heavenly! We finally decided to drive to Queens to check them out. First impression was good, they were strictly observing social distancing and allowed only 2 customers at a time.

I called earlier during the day to place my order of Ube Cheese Pandesal (the reason why we went to Queens in the first place) and when we were picking it up, we loved that they were just packing it in a box because they gave us the freshly baked ones! The staff was really amazing. Such warm friendly Cebuanos and mga Bisaya. Jerome who assisted my order was also so nice. Thanks again guys!

And since we were already there, we thought of getting other stuff worth trying. We got the Pork Asado bun and also the famous Ube Custard cake (or Ube with Leche Flan). Happy they cut us 2 slices from the whole cake, really appreciated it!

When we got home and for the next few days, here's our verdict: The Ube Cheese was delicious. Probably in my Top 3 in NYC. Not as much Ube Halaya inside as others but so delicious nonetheless! The Pork Asado bun was sooo good! Took me back to my younger days in Manila when I would enjoy a delicious Asado Siopao! My husband loved this too! And for the finale, the Ube Custard Cake was amazing! If you can only get one thing from this place (which trust me would be impossible!), you can never go wrong with this cake!

Cannot wait to be back! Thanks Jerome and Team! 😊

YOU WANT UBE!? YOU GET THE BEST UBE! This is the best place I’ve had in a long time for pastry but it’s the fact that they have Ube that sold me. I drove an hour to try it. I ended up leaving with $100 worth of pastries for the holidays so everyone could give it a try. The prices are reasonable and everything is so flavorful without being watered down or full of sugar. I don’t have a sweet tooth but I’m all for richness in flavor. The Ube cheese balls are so freaking good! I got two boxes of them. The regular cheese balls are good too. I got a Ube cake. I got one box each of the corn beef buns and the pork buns. I am in love lol. The Ube cake was moist, flavorful and not sweet. It was perfect! And best of all, the lady that was there was so sweet, she was so welcoming, we chatted for awhile. Definitely will be going back to get my fix here!

Kape't Torta is a great little Filipino bakery in Elmhurst where you can grab some breakfast and a hot coffee to start your day. Their torta is delicious, and the ube ensaymada is a must-try. They also have a good selection of Filipino chips and other products. If you're in the area, be sure to check it out!

We visited Kape’t Torta randomly when we were waiting for our to-go order from Awang Kitchen. The decor looks simple and humble but we were attracted by their Ube dessert, since I am a super fan of Ube.

The owner is super friendly and welcoming to recommend us their must-try items for our first visit. We had their Ube Cake with Flan and Garlic Bread with Cream Cheese.

The food was so good, especially the Garlic Bread, it was delicious and perfectly balanced between savoriness from garlic and sweetness from cream cheese. The Ube Cake was also tasty and creamy with soft texture.
