House of Meats - Tampa, Florida

So glad to come back to Tampa to vosit House of Meats. Their Caribbean selection is second to none. I picked up some smoked herring to make some Haitian Aranso. They stopped aelling it at Publix everywhere and I could only find it by the case online. They also had 5 lb boxes of conch for around $70 which is pricey but worth it for me. The only place where they fell through was that they didn't have black mushroom cubes for du riz djon djon. With everything we were able to pick up, we are ready to cook up a feast for our party.

A coworker recently mentioned this place to me and I ended up going back 2x in one week! They have a very large selection of various meats(fish, octopus, whole rabbit, oxtails, goat etc) and the prices are pretty good…definitely better than the grocery store for boneless breasts and wings. I bought a 5lb bag of flats for $13!!! I will definitely be back. The gentlemen at the butcher counter were very friendly and helpful.

There was only one register open both times, but the wait was worth the prices lol They also have canned goods and fruit/vegetables. I even bought 4 black plums for $1 and some change. I would absolutely recommend checking out this location.

I usually get my beef knuckles by the ball..as in the whole 50-70 dollars on una bola de carne. But thus last one smelled awful..I couldn't believe they sold me something so expensive but not of good quality. I positive this whole pack of meat was spoiled. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Me gusta este lugar pero el nuevo personal parece que vamos a pedir regalado estuve media hora en la carnicería y ni me miraban a un señor que preguntó por carne lo dejaron parado ahí no le hicieron caso yo voy seguido a ese lugar pero si no tratan de enseñar a sus empleados como se tratan los clientes tendre que dejar de ir y de recomendar el lugar así que porfavor mostremos empatia por los clientes y no puedo dejar de decir que es un lugar con mucha variedad de productos la verdad espero que cambien la atención porque me encanta el lugar

Super knowledgeable staff. Place is clean and makes you feel confident that you are purchasing items of quality. Many of these styles of stores have fairly questionable practices. This market is the exception.
